External Biliary Fistula
We report 210 cases of external biliary fistula treated in our clinics between 1970-1992. In 7 cases, fistulas were formed after iatrogenic bile duct injury, in 4 cases after exploration of common bile duct, in 4 cases due to disruption of biliary-intestinal anastomosis, and in 2 cases due to liver trauma. In 85 cases bile leak was observed after cholecystomy, in 103 cases after hydatid disease...
متن کاملSpontaneous external biliary fistula: a rare complication of cholangiocarcinoma.
A 68-year-old woman presented with yellowish discharge oozing from a fistula opening in the upper epigastric area that had persisted for one month prior to her visit. The patient had undergone a left lateral segmentectomy of the liver ten years prior for treatment of intrahepatic duct (IHD) stones. An abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan showed focal stricture and proximal dilatation of remn...
متن کاملEndoscopic Treatment of Postoperative External Biliary Fistula in a Patient Operated on for Hepatic Injury Due to Multiple Trauma
After surgery for hepatic injury as a result of blunt abdominal trauma from a motorcycle accident, an external biliary fistula developed in a young patient. The authors describe the rapid and complete healing of the fistula by use of a nasobiliary catheter. These findings emphasize the importance of endoscopic operative technique for postoperative and traumatic external biliary fistulas.
متن کاملEsophageal fistula complicating thyroid lobectomy
Thyroidectomy is associated with low morbidity and mortality. Esophageal perforation following thyroidectomy has been reported only three times previously, with subsequent fistulization occurring in two of these cases. The authors present the first such case report in the English-speaking literature.
متن کاملAnterior Hepatic Transection for Caudate Lobectomy
Resection of the caudate lobe (segment I- dorsal sector, segment IX- right paracaval region, or both) is often technically difficult due to the lobe's location deep in the hepatic parenchyma and because it is adjacent to the major hepatic vessels (e.g., the left and middle hepatic veins). A literature search was conducted using Ovid MEDLINE for the terms "caudate lobectomy" and "anterior hepati...
